What does a Sponsor do?

A Good News India Sponsor provides a caring friendship to a desperate child in India and intervenes in the physical, social and spiritual development of that child. **You will receive photographs and an information card about your child.

What does it cost to Sponsor a child?
$ 30.00 per month (U.S.) or $360/yr.
Only at one dream center-our home for “high risk” girls”– is the sponsorship a higher amount: $50.00

What becomes of that money?
At present, 100% of your sponsorship amount goes directly to India for the child(ren). But with a growing Sponsor base, we may be forced to take a small percentage for necessary administrative expenses such as printing costs, postage, etc.

How is the money spent?
Your sponsorship gift goes to provide three meals a day for a child, medical care as needed, a safe place to live, teachers and workers who help and model Christian living and give regular instruction in Christian disciplines; it also helps cover onsite overhead costs.

May I correspond with my child?
Absolutely! Sponsors are encouraged to send cards and/or personal letters to their child, which will be translated each way. (This process takes several weeks.) But individual birthday gifts, etc., aren’t encouraged since not all the children are sponsored and one or a few receiving a special gift would cause needless confusion or hurt among the other children. However, we WELCOME general donations over and above your regular support, which will be used for special occasions or items, such as toys, games for all, sports equipment, classroom equipment, dormitory needs, etc. You may include in your card or letter sheets of stickers for your child, bookmarks, photos of your family, your pet, etc. The children love to hear from their sponsor!

May I send money or gifts for my child’s birthday?
Since many of the children in our dream centers are still not sponsored, we feel that one child receiving a personal gift would cause needless confusion and hurt. We do encourage sponsors to send a general donation “in honor of their child,” with which we can purchase something for all the kids to use – i.e., sports item, a table game for all, etc. Out of your gift, your child will also be given a new dress or shirt/pants from you, their sponsor.

Am I the only sponsor for my child?
Yes, you are the only Sponsor of your child. That is why it is vitally important that you stay faithful with your commitment. Your money makes all the difference in your child’s life and when you neglect to send in the gift, we have to pick up the slack.

How long does my sponsorship continue?
You have the opportunity to continue sponsoring your child through grade School and right on into High School AND College for the same $30 per month!

How does RAHMAN MINISTRIES ensure that my support actually reaches my sponsored child?
Dr. Rahman works with a Board of management in India and in the U.S. who oversee the projects. He stays in constant touch with the Dream Centers via e-mail, phone, fax and personal visits. Our organization is a government-recognized and registered society. Monthly reports are submitted and each Dream Center runs on a predetermined budget.

What happens if I must discontinue my sponsorship?
We recognize that sometimes changes in circumstances forces a sponsor to drop a child. We ask that you contact us immediately and, if possible, give us a 2-3 month advance notice so that we can secure another sponsor.

What happens if my sponsored child leaves the program?
From time to time, we lose a child either through death, or a relative comes to claim the child or for other reasons beyond our control. When this happens, we will inform you as soon as we receive the information and ask you to extend that compassion to another needy child in the same home, if possible.

Are there other ways I can help children with GOOD NEWS INDIA?
Yes! You can send special monetary gifts for the general project which will allow us to make improvements, do maintenance work and beautify our Dream Centers. In addition, an emergency fund will help us with operational costs when sponsors neglect or drop out of the program without notifying us.

Does GOOD NEWS INDIA have a denominational affiliation?
Yes. We are affiliated with the Assemblies of God. Dr. Rahman has been an ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God since 1979. Dr. Rahman has also been welcomed at non-denominational churches across the country.
